The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
Genre: Historical Mystery/Thriller/Magical Realism

This was one of the most unique and engrossing books I’ve read in a long time. It’s genre-bending, twisty, and best enjoyed with an open mind.
It’s hard to nail down a synopsis for a book this unique, but I’ll break down the essence.
A man (Aidan) is summoned to a gothic mansion for a lavish party. But what he finds is much more sinister: he must find out who killed Evelyn Hardcastle, or he’ll continue to wake up every day in a new host’s body, re-living the same day over and over.
It gives off serious Agatha Christie vibes, which I am ALL about. The cast of characters, the eerie setting, the twists and turns…it’s all so well done. Highly recommended!

Set in the early 1600s, a renowned detective is being transported on an East India trading ship bound for Amsterdam. He’s been placed under arrest (for an unknown crime he may or may not have committed) and put into shackles.
His loyal companion, Arent Hayes, is traveling with him, determined to make sure he’s safe. But shortly after the ship embarks, strange things start to happen onboard the ship – and some of the passengers are in terrible danger.
With the detective locked up, it’s up to Arent to solve the mystery and save the ship from sinking.
I’m reading this right now, and really enjoying it! It’s very atmospheric, I love the characters, and I’m intrigued as to which direction the story will go.

Genre: Mystery/Thriller/Science Fiction

Stuart Turton has a new novel coming out in 2024! It’s set on an idyllic island – the last piece of land that exists after a terrible fog wiped out the rest of the world.
A small group of islanders and scientists co-exist peacefully on the island, until one of the scientists is found dead.
The death has caused the island’s security system to turn off, and the fog begins to creep in. If the murder isn’t solved quickly, everyone on the island will be overtaken by the fog.
First off, I’m obsessed with that cover. And second, this premise sounds right up my alley, and I cannot wait to read it!
