Who is Holly Jackson?

Holly Jackson is a British author of young adult mystery and thriller books. She won the British Book Award for Children’s Fiction Book of the Year (which includes the young adult genre) for her first novel, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.

In fact, that novel was an instant New York Times Best Seller, and remained on the bestseller list for months after its release. It’s also the best-selling children’s and YA debut in the United Kingdom since 2017.

Holly Jackson’s Books

As of now, Holly Jackson has written five books, with another new book releasing in 2024. Her breakout novel was the first in her AGGGTM series, featuring the plucky young Pippa (Pip) Fitz-Amobi.

That trilogy has two additional novels, plus one shorter novella.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Series (AGGGTM)

This young adult mystery / crime thriller series features a teenage amateur detective – Pippa Fitz-Amobi – as she investigates cases that she believes were either improperly solved or didn’t get enough attention.

Her first case starts as a school project, but turns into something much bigger.

I’m going to list the books in chronological order (not release date order). So the prequel novella will be listed first, even though it wasn’t the first book released in the series.

Will A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder be a movie or TV show?

In 2022, BBC Three announced that A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will be made into a six-part television series by Moonage Pictures. Poppy Cogan and a team of writers will adapt the novel for the screen.

Emma Myers (Enid from Netflix’s Wednesday) has been cast as Pip, and Zain Iqbal has been cast as Ravi.

And, we now have a release date! Season 1 of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will premiere on Netflix on August 1st (in the U.S.).

Holly Jackson is back with a brand new YA mystery thriller novel! This book is unrelated to her other series/books, so you don’t have to read those in order to read this.

Synopsis: Rachel Price went missing sixteen years ago. Her daughter, Bel, was the only witness – but she can’t remember what happened.

Now, Bel’s family agrees to be the focus of a true crime documentary. But in the midst of filming, something unbelievable happens: Bel’s mother – Rachel Price – comes back.

Her story about where she’s been doesn’t sound like the truth to Bel. But if she’s lying, then what really did happen to her? How – and why – is she back after all these years?

Release date: April 2nd, 2024

If you haven’t read Holly Jackson yet, I hope this list of Holly Jackson books in order helps you figure out where you want to start. I know I loved her AGGGTM series (even as someone who doesn’t read a lot of young adult books)!
