I’m always on the lookout for exciting new books to add to my TBR list, no matter how many books are already on it. I have this fear that if I don’t put every intriguing book I hear about on my list, I’ll forget about it forever (am I the only one who worries about things like this??).
My TBR list is my source of truth. It comforts me. It allows me to keep track of all the books I want to read in my lifetime, even if I won’t get to them for a while.
So, if you’re anything like me, you look forward to lists like this. Let it feed your book obsession – really, it’s one of the healthiest obsessions you could have! Here we go…
1. Providence by Caroline Kepnes (Mystery/Thriller)
If you haven’t read Caroline Kepnes’ first novel, You, go read it ASAP. Then you’ll immediately want to read the sequel, Hidden Bodies. Once you’re done with those, you’ll be just as excited for Providence as I am, despite the fact that it has nothing to do with the first two novels.
Providence centers around two small-town best friends who are torn apart by a kidnapping. Apparently, things get stranger from there.

2. Rust & Stardust by T. Greenwood (Historical Fiction)
This novel is based on a true-life kidnapping in 1948 that inspired Vladimir Nabokov’s iconic novel, Lolita.

3. Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris (Mystery/Thriller)
A young man’s wife disappears…and then reappears 10 years later, after the man has already remarried. To her sister. He tries to find the answers to her disappearance, but that just ends up raising more questions.
Written by the author of the popular thriller Behind Closed Doors.

4. Force of Nature by Jane Harper (Aaron Falk, Book 2) (Mystery/Thriller)
The first book in this series has gotten a lot of buzz for its atmospheric and gripping story. The sequel is about a group of five women who go on a hike during a corporate retreat. Only four return. Intrigued? So am I.

5. The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin (General Fiction)
Bookstagram has been flooded with buzz over this book, but the premise alone should be enough to convince you to read it: Four young siblings are told the day they will die, and this leads them each down very different life paths.

6. The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell (Horror/Historical Fiction)
If you’re looking for something with a more Gothic/Victorian feel, The Silent Companions is the book for you. It features a ghostly country estate where a young widower is forced to make her home, despite her feeling that someone is watching her.

7. The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn (Psychological Thriller)
This is another of the books everyone’s talking about. It’s a psychological thriller in the vein of The Girl on the Train. Itcenters around a reclusive woman who becomes fascinated with the family that lives next door. But when she sees something she shouldn’t, things take a dark turn.

8. The Outsider by Stephen King (Mystery/Thriller)
There isn’t a ton of information out on this one yet (other than it’s about a detective trying to solve a young boy’s murder), but it’s a new Stephen King book. Enough said.

9. Florida by Lauren Groff (General Fiction)
I loved Lauren Groff’s novel Arcadia, and I’ve heard wonderful things about Fates & Furies, so I can’t help but look forward to her newest novel’s release.
It’s an interwoven series of characters and stories all taking place in Florida. It spans a wide range of decades, but it boils down to people, their struggles, and their connection to the same place.

10. Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers (Wayfarers, Book 3) (Science Fiction)
I just read the first book in this series, and it’s AMAZING! It’s a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy or Firefly, but also really unique. Even if you don’t typically read science-fiction, you should give this series a try.

11. Mister Tender’s Girl by Carter Wilson (Horror/Thriller)
Apparently, this is in the works of being made into a television show. The premise is inspired by the Slender Man urban legend, and the vicious attack that occurred because of it.

12. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton (Mystery)
The night of a lavish gala party, a man is forced to repeat the same night over again until he solves the murder of a woman – the party hosts’ daughter.

13. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi (Fantasy/Young Adult)
This debut fantasy novel promises a richly-built West-African inspired world filled with magic, royals, and spirits. Sounds like a breath of fresh air for lovers of the YA fantasy genre.

14. How to Stop Time by Matt Haig (Fiction/Fantasy)
How to Stop Time is about a centuries-old man just trying to settle in to life in the present day. The secret society he’s involved with forbids falling in love. What do you think happens next?

15. Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel (Themis Files, Book 3) (Science Fiction)
As is quite clear in my previous post on some of the best books I read last year, this series is one of my favorites and I will recommend it to anyone I come across. It should come as no surprise that I am beyond excited for the final installment.
