When I first read the super mysterious synopsis for Comfort Me With Apples, I knew I had to have it. Not only have I heard great things about Catherynne M. Valente (and enjoyed a previous novella she wrote), but also the premise here sounded so intriguing!
This unique story is about a woman named Sophie. She lives with her perfect husband in her lovely house in a perfect neighborhood called Arcadia Gardens. But something happens that makes her question if everything really is all that perfect.

Comfort Me With Apples: My Thoughts
This is one of those books that grabs you right away. Not with over-the-top, pulse-pounding action, but with subtle curiosities that immediately make you question what’s going on. Right away, you can tell something strange is going on, and it sucks you in.
This is a novella, but it packs a lot of story into its slim length. I recommend NOT reading too many reviews before you dive in. It’s best to go into it without knowing too much about it. (That’s why I’m keeping this review so vague!)
Beautifully written, engrossing, and great for spooky season, this book is definitely worth reading and ripe for discussion!
